Heartburn Folk Remedies that Get RESULTS

It’s a fact. Even though sufferers must still observe a complete agenda of treatment to stop the internal condition that causes heartburn, there are many folk remedies that will significantly alleviate its symptoms. But will folk remedies help to prevent heartburn? For many victims of heartburn despairing over the ineffectiveness of conventional medicine (typically only providing temporary relief at the price of side effects), the question is whether folk remedies can have more effect.

Infrequent (perhaps once a week) heartburn may happen to anyone. Chronic heartburn however immediately raises the question of GERD - gastro esophageal reflux disease, also known simply as acid reflux. Heartburn, symptom of GERD, is as its name suggests, a burning pain in the esophagus just below the breastbone.

Usually, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) opens only to let foodstuffs into the stomach and then shuts before stomach acid can reflux into the esophagus. It is when the LES activates randomly or fails to fully close, that acid splashes back into the esophagus, attacking the lining and triggering the burning sensation of heartburn, a symptom of GERD. GERD is really a mechanical problem. It is the weakness of the LES that encourages acid reflux up into the esophageal passage from the stomach.

The problem of the strength being sapped from the LES can come about for a number of reasons. Genetically inherited traits, bad sleep habits, obesity, stress and the wrong diet can all contribute. These are the real causes that must be treated rather than just the symptoms if lasting relief is to be achieved from heartburn. Because the weakness of the LES (lower esophageal sphincter) is a major trigger, just like the excess of acidity in the stomach, what must be targeted are the lifestyle, dietary and medical underlying causes. It should be noted that extra acidity can also be brought on not only by certain types of diet and lifestyle, but also by Candida infection.

Scientific studies done not long ago indicate that traditional remedies may well be effective. Folk remedies to deal with GERD have been in existence for much longer that modern medicinal treatments. Examples of traditional cures that have been found helpful in reduce heartburn are:

1. Lowering the foot of your bed. A 6 to 8 inches difference will limit the upward flow of gastric acid and spare your esophagus.

2. In order to position your esophagus to be higher than your stomach in bed, sleep on your left side. The disposition of the stomach (towards the left) and the esophagus entering it from the right will reduce the reflux of acid.

3. Because honey reduces inflammations in general, intake of a small amount of honey (in its natural state) will also bring alleviation to the esophagus. This is due to its antioxidant and antibacterial properties.

4. Green tea aids digestion and helps to restore the right acid/alkali balance. The effect is heightened with Ginseng.

5. Eat more but smaller meals per day. Smaller meals are easier to digest and allow you to eat more slowly, this decreasing any potential overload on your digestive system.

6. Drink water after you’ve finished one meal and before you begin the next one. Mineral water in particular can help to re-establish the acid alkaline balance in your digestive tract.

Remember however although that folk remedies may be good to reduce symptoms, they are just one part of a full, holistic plan which is what it takes to really treat and prevent heartburn.

Did anyone tell you about the real way to banish heartburn that causes you pain today and that could be gone tomorrow by the application of holistic, 100% natural remedies that also include traditional and effective folk cures?

About Me

How I Cured My Acid Reflux: Linda Evans’ Personal Story

Hi, my name is Linda Evans. I developed a severe and troublesome acid reflux condition about 10 years ago. Symptoms manifested during the day but mostly came at night while I was asleep. I would wake up suddenly with a mouth full of acid. The next day, aside from feeling horrible from the lost sleep, I used to experience a feeling similar to being poisoned.

Other related symptoms I experienced include but were not limited to: Pain and discomfort in the chest and upper abdomen, fullness in the stomach, nausea after eating, regurgitation, trouble swallowing, burping and chronic sore throat.

Throughout this time I was prescribed several medicines such as Prevacid that provided nothing more than a temporary relief. I also took over-the-counter antacids like Tums. I must’ve swallowed hundreds of bottles of the stuff. I tried many expensive GI health supplements but they only provided short-term relief. They certainly did not solve the problem.

Last year, I experienced a severe acid reflux attack and went to the emergency room. They doubled my Prevacid prescription and told me to avoid the usual foods I was already avoiding. I had an upper GI and Endoscopy performed. The physician read the results. The conclusion: I had Acid Reflux and he advised I should be on Prevacid for the rest of my life.

This was completely unacceptable. I already avoided the usual acid reflux triggering foods, I slept with my bed elevated at the head and I lay on my side, but the doubled up dose of Prevacid was no longer working! I was going out of my mind.

In my ‘quest for a cure’ I stumbled upon a website created by a nutritionist named Jeff Martin. He claimed to have suffered from acid reflux and digestive disorders for eleven years until he discovered a unique holistic solution for all types of acid reflux and digestive disorders. Based on his website it appeared Jeff was honest and knew what he was talking about. Anything was worth a shot at this point so I bought the book right away.

It is important to note that before I bought Jeff’s program, I tried numerous anti-reflux diets, took herbal supplements, tried Chinese medicine, reflexology, homeopathy remedies, Threelac — you name it — but nothing worked! If you’re having doubts, I can assure you that Jeff’s program is unlike anything you have ever seen.

I followed Jeff’s instructions step by step.

The results were almost instantaneous! After two days I felt a major relief. I was down to one Prevacid a day one week after I started the program. I was completely off Prevacid and Tums three weeks after.

I remember for the first several days that I actually felt worse because my body was going through such a cleansing process and the die-off effects started to manifest. But boy, was that ever rewarding. I was euphoric, just knowing that I was finally on the right path to recovery.

About 27 days into the program I was visibly healthier, my acid reflux and all its related symptoms were gone. It was the closet thing to a miracle that I have ever experienced.

Six weeks into the program, I had made a SIGNIFICANT progress. I felt rejuvenated, energized, happier and so much healthier.

I am a totally different person today. I have lots of energy. I have no acid reflux or any digestive disorders whatsoever. I sleep through the night. I wake up alert and full of life.

I’m so excited about my recovery that I want to share it with the world. I created this website just for that purpose.

Causes of Heartburn: Drill Down To The Real Reasons For Heartburn

Even if many popular information sources and the media suggest that aspects of lifestyle and eating particular foods are at fault, the real causative agents of heartburn are somewhat more numerous with genetic, lifestyle and dietary elements interlinked. Just like other chronic ailments, heartburn is a result of complex and many-dimensioned causes.

If heartburn happens twice per week or more frequently, a graver medical condition known as acid reflux disease may exist. This is also known as GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease). Even healthy people may experience heartburn up to once per week. Heartburn is the name for the sensation of burning or searing around the chest or throat. This frequently manifests itself after a meal.

A sphincter, the LES or Lower Esophageal Sphincter, should normally only open to let food and drink flow into the intestinal system and should not allow stomach contents to flow in the opposite direction. But in reflux situations, the LES is debilitated and stomach contents can reflux into the esophagus, damaging the cells in the wall lining and causing pain. GERD is the result of two physiological issues: the first is excess stomach acidity; and the second is the weakened sphincter (LES) which no longer functions correctly to cordon off the stomach from the esophagus.

As indicated earlier, several inter-linked factors make for a weak LES or excessive stomach acidity. These factors include:

1. Genetically inherited characteristics.

2. Lifestyles, where habits such as smoking ruins the digestion, attacks the immune system and aggravates Candida multiplication, which then leads to the disease of acid reflux. Stress from lack of sleep, emotional pressure or excess of work also provokes these problems.

3. Infections from Candida. When circumstances permit, Candida bacteria replicate fast and establish colonies all over the body. These microorganisms then ferment and are the causative agent for the rejection of digestive contents to be rejected back into the esophagus. This is when esophageal cells are then inflamed and degraded. Note that Candida is normally resident in the human body, especially in domains of the intestines and the genitals. Usually, Candida is kept in equilibrium by friendly bacteria with no negative corporal effect.

4. Diet patterns, intake of foods that are fatty or spicy and that debilitate the LES, or nutritive components that make digestion difficult can all boost existing acid reflux. Similarly, the regular and frequent ingestion of foods triggering acid production or levels, such as chocolate, peppermint, citrus fruits and tomatoes, also makes acid reflux more likely.

To cut out heartburn and to stop it from coming back, the root causes must be resolved. Whereas conventional treatments only superficially treat the symptoms, a holistic, all-natural approach gets to the real underlying causes to provide the only true safe and effective cure for acid reflux.
